Zo ontstond al in 1997 het MentorProgramma Friesland. Al snel konden alle studenten van de deelnemende instituten aangeven dat zij zich graag bij levensvragen en andere belangrijke zaken wilden laten ondersteunen door een mentor, rijk aan werkervaring.

MentorProgramma Friesland is een samenwerkingsverband van ROC Friese Poort, Friesland College, Nordwin College, NHL Stenden Hogeschool en Hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein. Het programma koppelt studenten van de kennisinstellingen aan rolmodellen uit het bedrijfsleven en vervolgstudies. Mentoring is een vorm van coaching en netwerken.
